Since I need to write at least one DA joural per year, it might as well be at the very beginning - so here goes.

I've kind of lost touch with whatever spirit I wrote in when I posted here, so I'm not sure if anything I'd like to say is relevant... I've also lost touch with the few DA exclusive friends that I used to have who might care (though the truth is I've lost touch with pretty much everyone).

But I think the focus was art, I'm almost sure.
I cannot just check out old entries because I'm typing this one on my blackberry and, awesome as the phone may be compared to my previous phone, the tasks I can perform on it are limited, it's slow when I browse and typing becomes a pain after the first minute. Which is about now.

So yeah, art.

I've been living in a new house with my mom since October. It's in an actual neighborhood in a city, opposed to the wild and wonderful rainforest you so often see as a background in my photos, or at least all the bright green grass and open sky. I once owned a piece of it, now I'm confined to being indoors or exposed on a noisy street, which I don't enjoy much.

I haven't taken photos for fun in my new house because there is nothing worth photographing. I don't take photos of myself because I have a humble camera and the light in my new house is horrible. I guess it takes some getting used to.

I have however, been painting in acrylics again. I exhumed some old canvases during the move, my old easel and brushes. My mom gave me tons of colors for my birthday in November, and I'm passing the time spreading gobs of paint into the shape of things in my head, though they never really do come out as I expect.

I'm also painting old drawings in Paint Shop Pro, routinely, as an attempt to... I dunno. Remake something old into something semi decent and practice painting digitally in the process, I guess.

You're not seeing them because I still don't have an internet connection at home and am unable to upload. The upside of that is I have more time to do things I hadn't done in a very long time, like reading for pleasure, playing with my keyboard and trying to paint.

There's a few girl friends I always think about when making art who are an inspiration because they're great artists (so much better than I'll ever be) and because they encourage me. I won't type out their DA names because I might make a mistake and again - blackberry is not so versatile, it's hard. But I mean Gitte, Naelle, Naisa and Naomi. And mentioning one boy as well is fair, so Mike. Gosh, and Maria, for whom I need to draw her next tattoo - an honor indeed.
So thanks, you guys.

I think drawing is the most useless out of all my little hobbies, but I can't imagine not doing it.

On the subject of non-art... I completed my MA (English lit) last year and am now a Master of Arts. I'm looking for work and really hope I find something soon.

But back to business, I missed you, I did.

My last journal entry was almost exactly 2 years ago... I've been very busy with life and studying.

And I admit, most of the creative work I've been doing for a few years is all for IMVU.
You've all probably heard of it, there's adverts for it all over the internet... and it is quite childish, up to a point (considering what it is, in essence - a 3D chat program), but you can't help but appreciate the works of art you come across and get to use.

It's addictive.

I've been making clothes, hair, skin and other products on IMVU since 2006, and it is the only website, I think, where my art has had so much success (both in popularity and monetary value).
